Pms â?? Grin and Bear it or Zap it With Hypnosis!
By | January 13, 2010
Whether you call it PMS or PMT doesnâ??t matter one iota; Itâ??s the bane of many womenâ??s lives, lying in wait once a month to turn oneâ??s mood and body upside down and inside out, like a volcano smoldering away, ready to erupt at any moment. And letâ??s not forget this volcanoâ??s impact upon friends and family, who wait in fear of the inevitable approach of molten lava, tiptoeing around you as if treading on egg-shells!
Â
Perhaps this description is overly dramatic for the majority of us women. But Iâ??m sure there is a certain percentage that readily connect with this analogy, whilst others breeze through â??that timeâ? each month with carefree unconcern. Some suffer from PMS, whilst others donâ??t, and hormones and genes would appear to be the culprit. The symptoms we are told add up to 150 in all, and so Iâ??m not even going to attempt to list them here. Suffice it to say, you know your own symptoms, be it depression, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, bloating, etc; you donâ??t need me to describe them to you! For some itâ??s severe, for other these symptoms are mild, whilst a lucky few are barely affected at all.
Â
Youâ??ve no doubt tried numerous herbs and vitamins, pills and potions. Some help a bit, some a lot and some not at all. A lesser known about or lesser acknowledged means of assistance is that of tapping into the power of your own mind. Perhaps it is assumed that because the symptoms are very physical or very tangibly experienced then the cure would have to be in a physical form aswell. Or maybe it is felt that something genetic and hormonal is just the way it is and cannot be changed. Iâ??m aware too that many people have a natural resistance to the concept of hypnosis; but this is through a lack of understanding about this natural art.Â
Â
You arenâ??t afraid to go to sleep or to dream are you? Or afraid to meditate or practice yoga? Hypnosis is the natural state which occurs between wake and sleep, when your brain waves alter from the beta pattern of normal wakefulness to the alpha-theta of deep relaxation and REM sleep. Â
Â
Many people resist hypnosis on other grounds too â?? perhaps because it would take too much time and effort, or because itâ??s too expensive or because they do not think that they are susceptible. Everyone is susceptible to hypnosis, to one degree or another. And as you practice hypnosis you will relax more easily and access deeper and deeper states. It is no different from anything else in that â??practice makes perfectâ?. What is different is that it is completely natural. When you take a closer look into the time and cost issues, these fears will also be allayed. You can purchase a self-hypnotic cd for very little money and play this each night as you go to sleep, so you donâ??t even have to take time out to do it.
Â
Whilst addressing the subject of overcoming resistance, its important here to add that medical research has shown that the method of hypnotic delivery, either in person or via recording, does not have a significant effect on the successfulness of the treatment.
Â
In what way then can hypnosis help with PMS? Of course hormones and genes play a starring role in its causality, but your mind can have an equally strong impact upon its alleviation. Research has shown that women can learn to effectively reduce and alleviate their symptoms by using relaxation techniques and hypnotic suggestion. This makes sense; your mind and body are intrinsically linked, and so as you learn to approach your symptoms in light of this fact you will take control, relieve your symptoms and feel a whole lot better than before.
Â
When you relax deeply, as you do in hypnosis, endorphins are released throughout your body. These are natural opiates, natural pain killers, which produce a fantastic feel good factor, a feeling of comfort. There is a link between low endorphin levels and PMS symptoms. It follows (and research has shown this) that to learn to relax deeply and produce endorphins at a greater rate will naturally relieve the symptoms of PMS.Â
Â
Thus you can choose to grin and bear your symptoms of PMS or you can put your mind to work with hypnosis to maintain a better state of equilibrium during your monthly cycle.

Learn About Some of The Basics of Hypnosis
By | December 27, 2009
Hypnosis is a condition in which someone is made to demonstrate changes in thought and behavior. People have been debating a lot about the subject for the longest time, because many people believe in it but some are skeptical about the concept.
Psychiatrists do agree on the main characteristics of hypnosis and its process. Hypnosis is a trance state that brings about relaxation, maximum suggestibility, and aroused imagination. The subject is alert most of the time, so it cannot really be said that a person under hypnosis is asleep. He is fully conscious, but he has tuned out most of the stimuli around him. He only focuses on the subject before him, excluding almost any other thought.
In ordinary hypnosis, the suggestions of the hypnotist are approached as if they are reality. The hypnotist will suggest things that the person hypnotized should feel; and he will feel it, although he is aware that all those sensations are just imaginary. In this mental state, the person under the spell will feel relaxation and removal from inhibitions. This effect is the same when he does something that brings pleasure and relaxation to him, such as watching a movie. The more the person becomes engrossed with the story, the more he moves away from the pressures of everyday life.
A person under hypnosis is also in a very suggestible state. He may easily embrace an idea suggested by the hypnotist, although his sense of morality and safety will still be intact. He still cannot be forced to do something he does really want to do.
The basic school of thought on hypnosis states that it is a direct channel to someone’s subconscious. In doing everyday tasks, the conscious mind works hand-in-hand with the subconscious. The subconscious is digs in into the vast information stored into a person’s brain which enables him to solve problems. The subconscious is also the part responsible for the accomplishment of things that people do automatically, such as breathing.
So it is the subconscious that is the real brain of a person, because it decides a large part of what he does, and does most of his thinking. The conscious mind is dominant when a person is awake. It evaluates the thoughts, and decides on the things that need to be done. It processes new information and pass it on to the subconscious. But when a person is asleep, it is the subconscious that is active; and the conscious mind takes a backseat.
Psychiatrists suggested that the exercises of hypnotism works to relax and subdue the conscious mind, so it will take a backseat on a person’s thinking process. A person still knows what is going on, but the subconscious is more dominant than the conscious mind. This enables the hypnotist to work directly with it.
At present, there are two distinct ways to apply hypnosis. The first one is the entertainment version. A hypnotist employs a variety of techniques to make the subjects relax until they finally appear asleep or in trance to the audience. During that state, the hypnotized person will obey the commands of the hypnotist to do things that he would not really do in a normal state.
The second method is the use of hypnosis in medical and health-related endeavors. It has been said that hypnosis is used for weight control, the alleviation of pain, for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, and others. It is not used as a therapy by itself, but rather compliments other types of therapies, more like an add-on or an alternative method.
The validity of hypnosis is still a big question for some, but it will continue to be a source of fascination for all of us.

Hypnosis Online: Learn The Ways Of Relaxation And Self Reflection
By | December 26, 2009
When you are trying to hypnotize yourself, it can be very confusing. You don’t really know how to go about it. Do you dangle a charm in front of your eyes and tell yourself that your eyes are getting heavy? Not quite, but you’re close. In fact, hypnosis online is very helpful for those who are looking to become hypnotized. With online hypnosis, you don’t really need a professional hypnotist in the room with you. You can get all the benefits of a great hypnotist right over your internet connection.
Audio And Visual
Hypnosis online has a lot of benefits. For one, there are many things that can be used on a computer screen to put you in a relaxed, hypnotized state. Swirling shapes and other techniques can be used, along with soft music or repetitious sounds, to put you in another state, a hypnotized state. From there, the computer’s speakers can be used to relate any messages the hypnotist wishes to tell you. For instance, if you goal is to quit smoking, the audio capabilities of your computer will allow the hypnotist tell you that you no longer need to smoke because your body will reject it. This is all done online and you never needed to go to an office or pay for an expensive office visit.
Special Messages
Online hypnosis can also allow you to find different mantras to say to yourself. Often, online hypnosis will provide text that you say over and over in your mind. In a hypnotized state, this message becomes ingrained in your memory and you begin to believe it. Whether your goal is to lose weight or quit smoking, or something else entirely, this message through online hypnosis will allow you to act towards that goal.
Relaxation Is Key
Online hypnosis is not a complete cure for anything that ails you, you still may need to see a professional for serious cases, but it can be very helpful, if not to just relax you but also to learn a little bit about yourself and how your mind works. Maybe that knowledge is enough to help you beat whatever you wish to beat. Try online hypnosis today and you might just wonder why you never tried it before. It might just be exactly what you need to quit smoking, lose weight or just to be a nicer, calmer person. There are numerous ways that it can be beneficial in your life, just go and check out any hypnosis site that offers audio hypnosis and you’ll see the vast array for hypnotism products and services available. Use it to your advantage and live life to the fullest!

Hypnosis Spiral and Other Methods to Induce Hypnotic Trance
By | December 25, 2009
Hypnosis is a light “trance”–a state somewhere between sleeping and waking. People in a hypnotic trance are typically very focused on one stimulus to the exclusion of others. People in a hypnotic trance are also somewhat suggestible, although they are by no means unable to control themselves and continue to bear full responsibility for their actions.
There are several ways to induce a hypnotic trance. Some of the more popular ones include the hypnosis spiral, the use of an object that glitters such as a piece of jewelry or a gold watch, and progressive relaxation.
Hypnosis Spiral
As the title suggests, a hypnosis spiral is a constantly moving spiral pattern. Hypnosis spirals are available on many websites dealing with trance induction. Some of them are available for free download; others must be purchased. Once you have obtained a hypnosis spiral, induce trance by having your subject keep his or her eyes on it for several minutes. While the subject is doing this, you can deepen the trance by playing relaxing music or offering suggestions that the subject is becoming sleepy, that his or her limbs and eyelids are becoming heavy, etc.
A hypnosis spiral can also be used to test a person’s ability to be hypnotized. Have your would-be subject watch the spiral for thirty seconds. After that, have your subject look at the palm of his or her hand. If the subject sees no abnormalities in the spiral or the hand, he or she will probably be quite difficult to hypnotize. On the other hand, the subject who sees the spiral start to change colors and sees an increase in size in his or her hand is probably quite suggestible and easy to hypnotize.
Bright Objects
Another way to induce trance is to hold a bright object, such as a sparkly piece of jewelry, just above the subject’s eye level and tell the subject to keep his or her eyes on it. Eventually, the eyes will become weary and the eyelids will become heavy. The hypnotist then steps in with suggestions that the subject is feeling sleepy, cannot keep his or her eyes open, etc.
Progressive Relaxation
A final way to induce hypnotic trance, favored in the psychotherapeutic and medical community, is progressive relaxation. Speaking in a calm, authoritative voice, the hypnotist instructs the subject to first tense, then relax, every major muscle group starting with the toes. By the time the hypnotist reaches the muscles in the neck and face, the subject will be in a deep, relaxed trance.

Hypnosis and the Mind
By | December 25, 2009
Hypnosis: so easy, you do it with your eyes closed.
Fundamentals of the Mind
The human mind may be subdivided into three parts: the Unconscious, Subconscious and Conscious. These compare to a computer:
Unconscious = operating system
Subconscious = hard drive
Conscious = RAM
Each part has separate and distinct tasks.
The Unconscious mind operates your automatic body systems such as the circulatory system, much as a computer’s operating system includes its basic functions. The Subconscious mind operates like a hard drive by storing files of all kinds, from a full memory bank of your past to your emotional spectrum, to its most vital task: protecting you at all costs. The Conscious mind is our everyday mind, making immediate day to day decisions like what to wear, eat, and drink. It is the gatekeeper, choosing what information is to be acted upon moment by moment. It’s the mind you’re reading this book with right now, and its tasks include comparing, reasoning, and explaining. These abilities are called the Critical Factor and are bypassed in hypnosis.
Importance of the Subconscious Mind
To update a file on your computer, you must open the original file and make the changes. In the human mind, original files are stored in the Subconscious. To gain access, we must reach the Subconscious directly, bypassing the Conscious mind. In other words, one way to gain positive changes in the present is to neutralize the negativity in the past. We do not change the memories, we upgrade how you feel about them. This upgrading can only be accomplished in the Subconscious, for that is where memories are stored, and it can only be reached through bypass of the Conscious mind, and that can only be done through hypnosis. Why? It’s what works. Hypnosis specifically sets the Conscious mind aside temporarily.
Your Mind Must Protect You; Good News, Bad News
All levels of your mind work to protect you as best they can at all times. And this especially applies to the Subconscious. It must protect you at all costs, and to do so, it may even lie to you, or more to the point, to your Conscious mind. It may lie about you, about others, it may even lie to your hypnotist while you are in trance. It may hide memories from you. And much, much more. This is because once it accepts negative behaviors in the name of your safety, it hangs on to those behaviors. Some examples are:
•smoking anything
•being obese
•declining success
•biting your fingernails
•spending compulsively
You may well ask, how can compulsive spending possibly protect me? It distracts you. Misdirection is one highly effective way your Subconscious protects you by keeping a lid on overwhelming emotions. Ergo the addict. You may well ask, how can declining to be successful possibly protect me? It limits you. Limiting exposure to risk is another way to protect you. It is when such protective efforts do not meet your current needs that you desire change. Hypnosis sets aside the Conscious mind, makes changes via the Subconscious mind, and change is achieved.
How Hypnosis Upgrades Your Files
Hypnosis is able to change your perception of your memories, and thus of yourself. We do not change the events themselves, we upgrade how you feel about them, and thus your daily life is upgraded. By accessing the original files stored in the Subconscious, you are able to see all of the reasons why your mind specifies your behaviors in the name of protecting you, and together we upgrade those behaviors since, typically, the need of that protection is gone. You are no longer in the middle of the event that had such impact on you. Your Conscious mind does not have complete access to your memory files; that is not its job. This is why merely talking about change is such an ineffective means of getting any. Talking happens in the Conscious mind. Change happens in the Subconscious. And here’s the rub: the Subconscious outvotes the Conscious mind. It is far, far larger, stronger, and more powerful. This is why willpower fails so miserably for the dieter. Unless the Subconscious agrees to a healthy diet and a normalized body weight, your finest of intentions are shortlived, having been overridden by the Subconscious mind.
Emotions
Emotions are a function of, and are stored in, the Subconscious. When you have had an emotional reaction to danger, for example, real or imagined, those emotions are felt and stored in your Subconscious. Hypnosis accesses those stored emotions, upgrades your perception of them, and results in changed behavior. You must give yourself permission to make changes. You must want to change. You must want to enter into hypnosis. And this means not being afraid of hypnosis. So, let’s define what hypnosis is in several ways, as there is no single perfect way to phrase it.
What Hypnosis Is
•“Hypnosis is the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind combined with the establishment of selective thinking,” says the US Government.
•Hypnosis is a blend of physical relaxation and extreme mental alertness. Yes, I said extreme.
•Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration. This is why a few minutes of emotional expression in trance is worth hours in an alert state. Humans are so easily distracted, and the Conscious mind is forever making excuses for everything. In hypnosis, the conscious mind is set aside, and excuses are seen for what they are.
•Hypnosis is the state you enter into every time you watch a tv show you like, see a film you like, or sit down at the computer intending to only be there for 10 minutes… and suddenly it’s two hours later.
•Hypnosis also happens when humans fall in love, literally entranced.
What Hypnosis Is Not
•Hypnosis is not mind control.
•Hypnosis is not a royal proclamation.
•Hypnosis is not sleep. We use relaxation, not sleep, to enter hypnosis. You do not wake up from hypnosis, you emerge. And you already know exactly what emerging from hypnosis feels like! Remember the last time you went to the movies, loved the film, and at the end when the credits rolled, you suddenly “came to”? You just emerged from hypnosis. That’s exactly what it feels like, because that’s exactly what happened.
•Hypnosis is not being unconscious. You can hear everything that goes on around you during trance; you’re just not interested in it.
•Hypnosis is not relaxation. That’s just an optimal starting point.
•Hypnosis is not being drugged. However, one can easily mimic a drugged state in hypnosis, provided you have previously felt the effects of that drug. Your body remembers. This is useful for pain control.
•Hypnosis is not involuntary. Just as no one can make you enjoy a movie that fails to entrance you, no one can make you remain in hypnosis. I typically teach my clients self hypnosis on the very first session so that they know for certain that they can emerge whenever they like. Anyone can emerge from hypnosis instantly by making that their intention.
How Does It Actually Happen?
Hypnotists use methods we call techniques. These include Guided Imagery, Rescuing Events, The Forgiveness Pyramid, Parts, The Spa of Your Inner Mind, Upgrades, and Higher Mind, to mention a few.
The Last Word
The media uses hypnosis on you all the time. Aaaalllllllll the time. Advertisers have been known to employ hypnotists to assess the hypnotic potential of a given advertisement, and pay good money for it.
Everytime you watch tv and enjoy it, you go into a state of trance. Ditto listening to music, going to the movies, watching a DVD, hearing talk radio, reading a magazine, and so forth. When you don’t like a particular type of music, that is expressly because it fails to put you into the trance you listen to music for.
So here comes the big duh. Why should media have all the fun? Please visit your friendly neighborhood trance specialist and use hypnosis to further your own goals.
Ah, hypnosis. So easy you can do it with your eyes closed.

Self Hypnosis or Autosuggestion ?
By | December 24, 2009
Self hypnosis is probably a term that you have heard about and maybe it is something you are not very familiar with. Self hypnosis is becoming very popular and many people are interested to find out more about this. So lets take a look at this subject of self hypnosis.
The definition of self-hypnosis is that it is a naturally state of your mind which can be defined as a heightened state of focused concentration with the willingness to follow instructions.
This willingness is also called autosuggestion. Autosuggestion is used for positive or negative symptoms explained by the thoughts of a person. For example if someone experiences more pain when they think it will hurt. This influence of the mind on the body can be used in a positive way to improve the way a person feels.
Autosuggestion is a process by which someone focuses the subconscious mind to think a certain way for a given purpose. This is accomplished through self-hypnosis. The acceptance of autosuggestion may be quickened through mental visualization. Autosuggestion is most commonly accomplished by presenting ones mind with repetitive thoughts until those thoughts become internalized. Visualizing the manifestations of a belief are typical means of influencing ones mind via repetitive autosuggestion.
Hypnosis is a completely natural state. It is pleasant and relaxing. The ancient method of hypnosis is more and more used in medicine where it has proved to be a valuable alternative to drugs. Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years to effectively speed up healing and relieve stress symptoms.
The act of inducing hypnosis is referred to as an induction procedure. There is no consensus among practitioners or researchers for which method is the most effective induction procedure. Many associate hypnotic induction with a swinging pendulum, but there are many usable techniques.
Most commonly the hypnotist will use calming techniques designed to relax the subject by suggesting that their limbs are going limp, eyelids are getting heavy and so on. Relaxation is not a key factor, however, as hypnosis can be induced during vigorous exercise.
Also there are great differences in length of an induction. On one side you have PR (Progressive Relaxation), which can take up to half an hour or more. Then the other method is RI (Rapid Induction), a method to induce hypnosis in just seconds by a combination of shocking the subject and the subjects anticipation. For a stage hypnotist using RI is absolutely necessary, as using PR in a show would take more time than the audience is willing to wait.
Hypnotic susceptibility is a measurable amount of responsiveness that one can have to hypnosis. Not all people can be hypnotized, but about 10% of people respond exceptionally well. There is little evidence linking susceptibility to intelligence or personality traits, but some research has linked hypnosis to the amount of absorption and imagination in subjects.
Recent research suggests that highly hypnotizable people have high sensory and perceptual gating abilities that allow them to block some stimuli from awareness.
There is a common claim that no one can be hypnotized against his will. The counter-claim given by many hypnotists is that while it is not possible make someone do anything against his will, it is possible to change what it is that he wishes to do. This lowering in inhibitions is called disinhibition and can sometimes be found in the hypnotized subject and leads him to performing acts that he would normally consider socially unacceptable or simply would not do otherwise.

Hypnosis Training – How To Learn The Art Of Hypnosis
By | December 23, 2009
As with any skill, the more you practice, the better you become. It’s the same with hypnosis. If done incorrectly, hypnosis will not work. You must become skilled in the art of hypnosis before you can hope to put anyone in a relaxed enough state to actually communicate with their subconscious.
Aside from learning hypnosis techniques, you must practice hypnosis if you ever hope to become an expert in the art of hypnosis. The best hypnosis training is done on your friends and family. This way, you can practice what you’ve learned on people who will forgive you if you make a mistake and won’t be angry because they paid for a service that you couldn’t complete.
Hypnosis training can either be done in a classroom setting, such as at a hypnosis school, or it can be done by reading books or even by getting instructions over the internet. Hypnosis training involves using a soothing voice, some objects to make the person relax more, and even music and lighting to enhance the relaxed, hypnotized state. Other than that, you need hypnosis training to know what to tell the person once they’re in the hypnotized state. This message to their subconscious can be instructions to help them lose weight, quit smoking, be more assertive or just to become a better person. Hypnotism doesn’t work for everyone but with enough hypnosis training, you can become an expert in the art of hypnosis so that you can hopefully help as many people as possible.
If you are going to conduct your hypnosis training with friends and family, make sure that you take extreme care. Hypnosis is not a toy; it’s not something you should take lightly. When people are in a hypnotized state, they are very vulnerable to the message conveyed by the hypnotist. It’s through hypnosis that people can be instructed to do certain things they normally wouldn’t do while awake. This leaves much room for abuse and unethical practices. Just make sure that you are responsible with your new power and that you follow your hypnosis training with the intent to do well, not bad.
Hypnosis training generally offers two levels of classes, namely, basic-intermediate trainings and advanced hypnosis classes. In the first level, learners are trained how to hypnotize almost everyone. They study the technique of when and how to give direct suggestions in such an order that the suggestions become successful quickly and permanently within the patient. During the advanced hypnosis portion, learners get the opportunity to learn the newest hypnotic regression and transformational techniques. This session enables the learner to quickly locate the cause of a patient’s problem.
Most training institutes offer hypnosis training in friendly, small-group settings. The teaching style is usually nurturing, experimental, and fun. Students learn all techniques of hypnosis by doing programs. This training uses lecture, demonstration, experiential, audio-visual aids, practicum and question and answer sessions.
In short, these trainings for hypnosis are dedicated to the study, practice, and teaching of traditional hypnosis, and the modern Ericksonian hypnosis methods. The training institutes provide clinical and humanistic hypnotherapy from entry level to postgraduate level
The hypnosis training can be a fun, interesting journey into the human subconscious mind. There’s no limit to what you can do or find out once someone’s conscious mind is put to sleep. You can help people with all sorts of problems and that’s what makes hypnosis training so worthwhile.
